In the context of emerging markets in the early 1990s, Vietnam and Korea officially tied their relationship in 1992 and the investment trend of Korean companies has rapidly increased since then. With the aim to speeding up the foreign investment as well as introducing the state-of-the-art credit and financial foundation, together with other four joint-ventures banks, SHINHANVINA Bank was established in February, 1994 under the name of First Vina Bank - a joint-venture bank between Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and First Bank Korea.

SHINHANVINA Bank was the first bank in Vietnam to launch the passbook issuance system in 1993, setting up online service with Hanoi Branch in 1995, launching internet-banking system, applying without source account for foreigners which can be used for deposit money in cash without any evidence ... Our Bank has been developing as the role of financial supporter for many Korean companies investing in Vietnam as well as for the contribution to the credit -finance development of Vietnamese banks.

In November, 2004, SHINHANVINA Bank successfully accomplished the interface connection with Vietcombank's network, the largest ATM system in Vietnam. Customers can easily withdraw or transfer money inside the bank free of charge through both of SHINHANVINA Bank's ATMs or any card acceptance points of Vietcombank's system. In 2005, Binh Duong Branch was opened with the aim to providing customers with more convenient banking services.

In April, 2006, our bank changed name from Chohung Vina Bank to SHINHANVINA Bank due to the merger of Shinhan Bank - Korea and Chohung Bank - Korea. SHINHANVINA Bank always exerts our best efforts to become one of the most well-known joint-venture banks in Vietnam. From June, 2007, our bank applied OASIS- the new network system in order to provide customers with the best banking services. For the convenience of our esteemed customers, we are going to establish a branch in Dong Nai Province adjacent to Hochiminh City.

During the past 15 years, SHINHANVINA Bank - one of the leading banks in Vietnam has played an important role as a bridge in the commercial and investment relation between Vietnam and Korea in the spirit of moving forward always and overcoming all thorny obstacles.
